Conservation reports & assessments
You have found a beautiful historic property you love – but is it worth investing in such an old property? At Build Conserve, I will provide a pre-purchase assessment on the manner of works you would expect to encounter when purchasing a historic home. I’ll identify problem areas, advise the correct materials to use and quote an approximation of costs associated with those works.
Problem areas to consider when restoring a historic property include:
- Rising / falling damp issues, identification of cause & possible remediation works required
- Brickwork issues relating to rising damp & efflorescence
- Cementitious mortar identification & removal requirements
- Damp course identification
- Sub floor ventilation problems
- Identification of original building fabric; essentially, what was there, what should be there, what material was used
- Diagnosis of inappropriate works or future/undiscoverable problems arising from contemporary material interference
For builders, I can advise, consult or complete the components of work relating to the heritage conservation/restoration aspects of your build, allowing you focus on your new build contract.
